Rio Washingtonian Center
Harvey Hottel, Inc. recently completed the replacement of a 1000 ton cooling tower on the roof of the parking garage for the air conditioning system at the Rio Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg, MD.
The cooling tower replacement was a challenging task. Harvey Hottel had to install a temporary cooling tower, pumps and generators on the ground level of the parking garage. This consisted of rerouting all the existing pipe from the existing tower to the temporary system. Once complete, Harvey Hottel brought in a 300 ton crane to remove the existing cooling tower and place the new system in its place. Harvey Hottel had to set up the temporary system and install the replacement cooling tower in five days. The planning, preparation and execution of the entire project took 3 weeks to complete.
The RIO Entertainment Center has been a gathering place for Gaithersburg residents for many years with restaurants on the waterfront with outside dining, AMC Loews Rio Cinemas 18, the Rio Sport and Health Club and Washington Golf.
Paddleboats are available during the spring, summer and fall months with a Summer Concert series that runs, Friday and Saturday evenings, 6-9pm in the months June through September.
